I contemplated sharing this post with you all for quite some time. I wasn't sure it was entirely appropriate for a food blog, or whether I was ready to display my other writer-self. It wasn't until my brother read this post and really encouraged me to share it. I was happy to hear that my post had brought a tear to his eye (we're an emotional bunch it would seem) and that much of what I have expressed, resonates with him, also.
He made a good point, mum has been the biggest influence of my life, and my passion for cooking isn't an exception.
So here it is, for mum, written for her 50th birthday on 24 July 2012. She's currently enjoying her birthday with our extended family in Germany. I miss you mum x
